We’ve been cleaning attics for over a decade, and we’re confident there is no problem too difficult for us! We also offer sound advice on the matter, so have a look at our tips below.
Don't store anything perishable in your attic
Any type of food, even dried food for dogs or other pets, shouldn't be kept in the attic as it only further entices pests to flock to the area and make themselves at home. They're bound to cause damage to everything from the wood to the insulation, so the less reason for them to come in the better. Their waste tends to carry diseases as well, and it could easily infect whatever food might be kept up there and cause a health risk.
Consider attic air sealing to save on energy
Even with good insulation, your household may still be losing out every month on energy costs because of small leaks in the attic allowing air to escape. Having attic air sealing installed is a quick and easy step to close up leaks and cut those costs. All it takes is a professional testing the attic to find every gap that needs sealing, and that's it! Your attic will be air tight and your home will be more energy efficient because of it.
Check your crawl space for standing water
Your crawl space is home to many important components of your house, from pipes to cables, and if water is leaking heavily it can cause a lot of damage. It will destroy insulation, rust and weaken pipes, cause sagging in the wood structures, and make mold grow. Use a flashlight to look into your crawl space and see if there's standing water, or signs of water damage like discoloration in the wood or rust on pipes. If you see this, it needs cleaning.
